What Is Bonus Pai Gow Poker?

Bonus Pai Gow Poker is a casino poker variation which was developed from the ancient Chinese game of Pai Gow, which means "make nine". The original Pai Gow game was a domino-style game and the poker version, of course, uses cards instead of dominos and has nothing to do with the number nine.

Bonus Pai Gow Poker is played with a standard deck of 52 cards plus one Joker. It is definitely a gambling game of chance between the player and the Dealer, and, therefore, not as stressful as the standard poker games where the players play against each other.

The player and the Dealer are dealt seven cards each, and the object of the game is to form two separate hands from the seven cards dealt and beat the Dealer's two hands.

How to Play Bonus Pai Gow Poker

The player and the Dealer receive seven cards which they divide into two hands: a Low Hand of two cards, and a High Hand of five cards. If both the player's High Hand and Low Hand are higher than the Dealer's two hands, the player wins. If only one hand is higher than the Dealer's corresponding hand, the game is a tie and the Dealer wins. The High Hand is ranked according to standard poker rankings. The Low Hand can only be a pair or two "high" cards. The Low Hand can never have a greater value than the High Hand.

The Joker is not a true "wild" card. It can be used to complete a Straight, a Flush, a Straight Flush or a Royal Flush. Otherwise, it is used as an Ace. It can form a pair of Aces in the player's Low Hand, or, perhaps, five Aces in the player's High Hand.

If the player's Low Hand value is the same as the Dealer's, the Dealer wins. If the player's High Hand value equals the Dealer's, again the Dealer wins.

If the player and the Dealer have the exact same High or Low Hand, this is called a Push and the Dealer wins.

A winning hand is paid out with the odds of 1 to 1, less a 5% House fee charged by the casino.

The Bonus Bet is made at the beginning of the game, separately, when the main bet is made. The Bonus payout is determined by the combination of all seven cards dealt before they are split into the player's High and Low Hand.

In Bonus Pai Gow Poker, the Dealer definitely has the advantage. However, a combination of seven cards gives the player a great deal of leeway. It is always advisable to make the Bonus Bet. The odds are so advantageous that it is definitely a worthwhile bet.

As for the High and Low Hands winning the Dealer's, this is truly a game of chance. In other words, all depends on what cards the player receives without much flexibility for strategizing. Get great bonuses and play online for real money at All Jackpots Online Casino!
