Keno Strategy
Keno is a game of luck, pure and simple. Unfortunately, your actions cannot have a big impact on the outcome of the game. However, as with all games that originate in ancient China, there are lots of traditional strategies that should not be dismissed.
Keno Calculations
Consider how much you want to spend before you place your keno bet. If you want to win big, you will need to spend a lot and place your bet on the maximum number of numbers. However, the more numbers you pick, the less chance you have of all of them coming up. On the other hand, if you pick only a few numbers, you have no chance at all at a big jackpot.
If you pick less numbers, your game will last longer. This should also be a factor in your betting process. It can be lots of fun to let the same numbers ride themselves out through a bunch of games. Odds indicate that you are eventually bound to win.
Before you place your first bet, make sure you are comfortable with the game. The quickest way to lose money is by playing a game you don’t really understand. Online practice games are available, and you should feel free to sit and watch a round of keno before you place your bet at a land-based casino. Or play in an online casino. Even though keno is fairly simple, this can help you get the hang of the game and the payout schedule.
Traditional Keno Bets
|
Throughout the lifetime of the keno game, many “traditional” keno bets have been developed. Some people find luck by betting with numbers that mean something to them – birthdays, anniversaries, addresses, etc. Some people like to “Chase the Old Man”, and play numbers that seem to be winning. Others “Let the Old Man Chase” them, and play numbers that have not come up recently. Many people play “lost cards” (i.e. cards they find that did not win before, but might win now). Relating to keno’s ancient Chinese origins, some people think of the card as divided into ying and yang, |

| and put special effort to keep it in proper balance and play the whole card, making sure that their bets are spread out. Using these methods can be fun, but don’t forget the keno drawing is always random.
Timing
Even if all your numbers are picked, you forfeit your winnings if you do not claim them before the next keno game begins. Perhaps the most valuable advice to take is to keep on your toes. Do not let the clock run away from you and make sure that you claim what is rightfully yours if you are lucky enough to win.
Bankroll
Keno is not usually a high-rollers game, but nonetheless, your bankroll can get away from you if you are not careful. Make sure that you keep track of how much you are spending and do not violate your own limits. Though keno is a super-fun game, the odds are not in your favor for winning. Do not count on making a profit.
Enjoy!
Keno is a wonderful game with great suspense as you watch numbers come up and hope that yours will appear. Take pleasure in the game itself. Tonight could be your lucky night!
