Blackjack Games: Double Exposure Blackjack

Learning how to play different blackjack games is easy and fun and makes playing blackjack more interesting. Double Exposure Blackjack is a blackjack variant in which both of the dealer's first two cards are dealt face up.

This double exposure gives players a significant advantage. Clearly, it is easier to figure the best blackjack strategy if you already know what blackjack cards the dealer is holding. On the other hand, as you would guess, there are other rule changes that, in order to compensate for the player's supposed advantage, favor the dealer and give the house back its edge.

Blackjack history was made when Double Exposure Blackjack (sometimes known as "Dealer Disclosure" or "Face-Up 21") was created by an ex-Las Vegas casino owner by the name of Bob Stupak. One difference between Double Exposure Blackjack and standard blackjack is what happens in the event of a tie. Normally in a tie situation - known as a push - the player gets his bet back but doesn't win anything. But in Double Exposure Blackjack, the dealer wins all ties. Another major difference is that instead of getting paid 3:2 on a blackjack hand, the gambling player only gets even money. These two changes make up for the advantage that a player has from seeing both dealer cards exposed from the start of the game.

You're Ahead Going in With Double Exposure Blackjack

Double Exposure Blackjack is played with eight regular decks of cards and the cards are shuffled after each hand. Like in all traditional blackjack games, aces can count as either 1 or 11. In this blackjack game, the dealer must hit on a soft 17. The dealer wins all ties except for a tied blackjack. When the player gambles and gets a blackjack, it pays even money. The player can double down after a split. Aces can be re-split, but a split ace and a 10 is considered a 21 and not a blackjack. Cards with the value of 10 - even cards that are not identical - can be split.

Double Exposure Blackjack Strategy

The basic blackjack strategy for Double Exposure Blackjack is different than in standard blackjack, both because the player can see the dealer's first two cards, and because the player loses all ties except blackjacks. Special Double Exposure Blackjack strategy charts can be found on the Internet. It pays to find one and print it out

So get a Double Exposure strategy chart, log on to the online casino, and give Double Exposure a try. It's an unusual blackjack game, it's different and exciting, and the odds are good that you will enjoy playing blackjack when you know what the dealer's cards are.
