Rules of How to Play 3 card poker
The idea in 3 Card Poker is to get a bonus hand or beat the dealer's hand (or both). You start with an ante, then can bet on each hand. Your play bets are the same size as the ante bet, so choose how much you want to bet with each game.
Note that the Dealer must have a Queen High or better to play (or "qualify"). If the dealer cannot qualify, you win and are paid your Play bet and double your ante, regardless of the value of your hand.
You can bet on the Ante, the Pair Plus or both. You can bet different amounts on each one.
To qualify for the Ante or Pair Plus bonus payouts, you must place the appropriate bet. In other words, if you did not place a Pair Plus bet, you do not qualify for the Pair Plus bonus. Same goes for the Ante bonus.
If you fold, you lose your bets in either game.
How to Play and Win the Ante Game
The Ante game has normal and bonus payouts.
To play the Ante game, you "ante up" (i.e. place an ante on the table). You will be dealt three cards. You can Play or Fold. Then the Dealer will get three cards. A hand has to have at least a Queen to "qualify."
If the Dealer does not have a Queen-high hand and has to fold, you are automatically paid your Play bet and double your ante.
If the Dealer qualifies, you can Play and bet an amount equal to your ante. Then the hands are compared. If your hand is higher, you win and are paid out at 1:1 odds. If you think you will lose, you can fold and just lose your ante.
In addition, there are Ante Bonus Payouts for bonus hand combinations, no matter what the Dealer has. The payouts are as follows:
Straight Flush 5:1
Three of a Kind 4:1
Straight 1:1
If the Dealer's hand qualifies, your hand and the Dealer's hand are compared. If you have the higher hand, you are paid out odds of 1:1 on both the ante and Play bet.
How to Play and Win the Pair Plus Game
Place a Pair Plus bet on the table. The Pair Plus game has payouts for specific hand combinations. If you don't have a bonus hand combination, you will lose your bet. The Pair Plus bonus payouts are as follows:
Straight Flush 40:1
Three of a Kind 30:1
Straight 6:1
Flush 4:1
Pair 1:1
Note that the payouts are not dependant on the Dealer's hand. What this means is that you can win the bonus no matter what the dealer has. For example, if you have three 2's, you win 30:1 even if the dealer has a straight-flush.
How to Win at 3 Card Poker
The goal of any Poker game is to have the winning hand. In 3 Card Poker, this means having a qualifying (Queen high) hand that is higher than the Dealer's or that is holding a bonus combination.
There are three ways to win 3 Card Poker:
1. If the Dealer does not Qualify
2. If you have a bonus combination
3. If you have a winning hand
If you are playing an Ante Game and a Pair Plus Game, but do not have a bonus combination, you are paid out according to the normal payout schedule if your hand beats the dealer's hand.
If you have a bonus hand combination the winnings are paid out according to the bonus payout schedule.
